Activities of CDC during November, 2009
1. EDUCATIONAL PROGRAMMES
MS Programme in Consultancy Management
The second semester of the 13th batch and third semester of 12th batch of MS Programme in collaboration with BITS, Pilani continued during the month.
Certificate Courses in Consulting
Fourth batch of Certificate Course on `Technical Consulting’ continued during the month.
Marketing for the two Certificate Courses on Technical Consulting and Management Consulting for the new batches to commence from January 2010 started during the month.
MBA Programme in Consultancy Management in collaboration
with IGNOU
Expert Committee Meeting was held on 13th November, 2009 to finalise the course content of three out of six courses on Consulting in the CDC – IGNOU collaboration MBA Programme.
Collaboration with MDI for Post Graduate Programme in
International Business
Six live Consultancy Projects are being carried out by the students of the PG Programme in International Business under the guidance of CDC officials. The students made a presentation on scope of work/ deliverables for each project.
2. CAPACITY BUILDING
Three day Training Programme on “Consultancy Management” was held from 11th to 13th November, 2009 in CDC.
3. MEETINGS
Meeting of the Project Advisory Committee was held on 17th November, 2009 under the chairmanship of Dr. D.K. Bandyopadhyay, Vice Chancellor, GGS Indraprastha University, during which the progress of projects/ schemes initiated during 2009-10 was reviewed and Plan till 2010-11 was discussed.
4. PLAN PROJECTS/ SCHEMES
1. Scheme for Capacity Building on use of Consultancy Services for Ministries/departments of Central/State Governments/PSUs and client organizations
During the month 14 programmes were organized by TCOs in different states. A plan for conducting additional 75 programmes in association with TCOs in various states has been drawn up taking the total of programmes to be delivered 200 by March, 2010.
2. Project for Knowledge Management through capturing consulting experiences of eminent consultants
Second Meeting of the Project Review Committee was held on 5th November, 2009.
3. Developing a Pool of Technology Transfer Consultants including packages for Transfer of Technology (TOT) of Rural Technologies of R&D organizations including a database of Trained Consultants
Four CSIR Labs in the areas of Chemical Sciences, Life Sciences, Electronics and Mechanical have been approached for applying the documentation on the technology in each area. Documentation has been sent for review of PRC Members.
The other projects/ activities initiated continued during the month.
5. FUNDED PROJECTS/ STUDIES
New Projects/ Studies obtained
· Project on Selection of Solution Providers for water challenges under the Technology Mission : WAR for Water was secured from Department of Science and Technology.
The scope of the assignment covers Selection of Agencies having required competence/ expertise for providing technically and economically viable solutions relating to various water challenges at the site identified by the Expert Committee constituted under the direction of the Hon’ble Supreme Court of India. The agencies selected will have to implement Pilot Project to provide holistic solution on a turnkey basis for water requirement initially at 10,000 level of population, subsequently to be upgraded to 1 lakh level of population under the same water basins as well as different water basins.
· Project on preparation of Recruitment Manual for National Institute of Food Technology Entrepreneurship & Management (NIFTEM) was obtained from Ministry of Food Processing.

a) Ministry of MSME – Capacity Building Awareness Programmes on QMS and QTT for MSME Sector in North East Region for Implementation of quality related tools in small scale units
Two Programmes were held on 24-11-09 in Guwahati, Assam and 27-11-09 in Gangtok
b) Consultancy Services for Selection of Agency for implementation of financial assistance schemes of the Ministry of Culture.
Request for Proposal (RFP) issued to 12 firms with last date of receipt of proposals 29th December, 2009
c) Consultancy Services for Engagement of National Quality Monitors (Tier III) of QCM for the Rajiv Gandhi Grameen Vidyutikaran Yojana (RGGVY)
Request for Proposal (RFP) issued to 24 firms with last date of receipt of proposals 24th December, 2009
d) Selection of agency for installation of 2 MTPA Pellestisation Plant with Ore Beneficiation facilities at OMDC, Thakurani
The Expression of Interest of six firms (EOIs) evaluated and recommendations sent to OMDC.
