FIDIC
FIDIC, the FéderationInternationale de Ingénieurs-Conseils (International Federation of Consulting Engineers), founded in 1913 is the International Federation of National Association of Independent Consulting Engineers.Its members are national associations of consulting engineers.
Today, it represents most of the private practice consulting engineers in the world. The federation is charged with promoting and implementing the consulting engineering industry’s strategic goals on behalf of its Member Associations and to disseminate information and resources of interest to its members. Today, FIDIC membership covers 97 countries of the world and Associate Members representing some 40,000 firms. FIDIC also has an Asia-Pacific Grouping of 19 FIDIC Member Associations called ASPAC.
It is working towards the development and promotion of the Engineering Consultancy profession and implementing the strategic goals and common interests of the consulting profession worldwide through seminars, conferences, and regular discussions with the national associations and international financial institutions (such as the World Bank, ADB etc.). FIDIC organises the annual FIDIC World Consulting Engineering Conference and an extensive programme of seminars, capacity building workshops and training courses and other events in the furtherance of its goals.
FIDIC publications include information for consulting engineers, project owners and the international development agencies, widely used conditions of contract, standard forms of contracts for works and for clients, consultants, client-consultant agreements and international best-practice publications, training manuals and guides.The Contract Documents of FIDIC are used all over the world including the Government of India for executing projects.
CDC’s Association with FIDIC
CDC has been an affiliate member of FIDIC and is presently actively associated with the ASPAC(the Asia Pacific arm of FIDIC).Consultancy Development Centre (CDC) has also worked together with CEAI - the Indian National Association for Engineering Consultancy and also the Indian Member Association of the FIDIC for the benefit of consultants and consultancy profession in the country. Over the years CDC has been working closely with FIDIC and has developed linkages, which has resulted in collaboration for organizing the FIDIC training and skill building programmes in India. These programmes were jointly organized in association with CEAI in a number of locations in India.
CDC is also the Secretariat of Technical Consultancy Development Programme for Asia and the Pacific(TCDPAP), which is working as nodal body to promote consultancy at regional level in Asia Pacific countries. TCDPAP is working in association with FIDIC-ASPAC for organizing TCDPAP Annual Conferences . FIDIC has been playing a very active role in TCDPAP Conferences over the years and in collaboration and networking with the consulting associations of Asia Pacific region.
